Genetics

Driving innovation in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of age-related disease

The Genomics theme focuses on understanding the role of genetics and epigenetics in the pathogenesis of dementia with Lewy Bodies.

The primary aim of the theme is to use state-of-the-art genomic platforms to identify genomic risk factors for disease development, which will facilitate, diagnosis and enable the stratification of patients for personalised treatments. It is also anticipated that this work will identify new targets for the development of new treatments.

The genomics theme cuts across all the remaining BRU themes, engaging patient cohorts, biomarkers, and imaging studies, and revealing common chronic disease mechanisms linking pathologies in different organs as we grow older.
