The Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre and Biomedical Research Unit have a strong focus on supporting activity that will foster relationships with industry. Our aim when engaging with industry is to develop interventions for the prevention, diagnosis and treatments of ill health in older people across our research themes.
We capitalise on the resources of both Newcastle University and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust through the work of experienced clinicians and scientists who offer support and high quality programmes of work in translational research into diseases affecting older people, as well as chronic illnesses.
We have a well established clinical service through our CRESTA clinical facility, Clinical Ageing Research Unit and Clinical Research Facility, with highly-trained staff capable of setting up, negotiating and delivering all phases of clinical trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Standards.
The collaboration between Novartis and the Mitochondrial Theme of the BRC is to work closely together to develop new treatments for mitochondrial dysfunction.Read more
